Technical Design Assistant

Position Overview

Lee Douglas Interiors is seeking a Technical Design Assistant to support our full-service interior design team. This role is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality drawings, renderings, and technical documentation that bring design concepts to life.

Working closely with one or more designers, you will translate creative direction into clear, buildable plans that support both client presentations and project execution. This is a key support role that allows our designers to focus on client relationships, sales, and overall creative vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain:
  • Floor plans
  • Elevations
  • Furniture layouts
  • Installation drawings
• Develop 2D and 3D renderings for client presentations
• Translate design concepts into technical drawings and documentation
• Conduct site visits to gather accurate measurements
• Revise drawings based on designer and client feedback
• Ensure accuracy and consistency across all project documentation
• Organize and maintain drawing files, templates, and project assets
• Assist designers throughout all phases of a project, from concept through completion
• Participate in site visits, installations, and final styling

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in one or more of the following:
  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • Chief Architect
  • SketchUp
  • Or similar design software
• Strong understanding of:
  • Interior design principles
  • Space planning
  • Construction documentation

Special Requirements

As a full-service interior design firm, this role occasionally requires hands-on support in our stores and on job sites.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
• Willingness to assist with installations and product movement
• Flexibility for occasional overtime or travel
• Ability to work in varying environments including temperature, noise, and active job sites
• Must be reliable and punctual as directed by management
